Google Assistant is a digital assistant that Google bundles along with its Android operating system. It responds to both voice commands and text inputs from the user and helps them perform various tasks like telling them the news, calling up people, setting up the calendar, finding places to eat out and much more. Until now, to communicate with the Assistant, users needed to converse in English or a handful of other languages for it to understand.
Now Google Assistant also supports Hindi in the Indian market as per a report by Android Police and The Android Soul. We checked out if the reports were true and found that Google Assistant does support the Hindi language now. However, whatever you say, it displays it in English alphabet like ‘Mere Ghar Ka Raasta’.
Another thing to note is that it currently responds only to voice commands in Hindi and not to written commands. As per the reports, the language support is being rolled out in phases and may take a bit of time to reach your smartphone.
To take advantage of this feature, users need to set their Android smartphone’s default language to English (India). After you have set the language, you can long press the Home button and converse with the Google Assistant in Hindi. Do let us know in the comments section below what Hindi commands it understands.
