Xiaomi is finally releasing Android Nougat 7.0 for the Mi series smartphones. However, the Chinese smartphone maker will roll out only the beta version for its Mi devices as of now. As per the report from GizmoChina, Xiaomi will release the beta version for its phones this week in China. The update which was posted by a Xiaomi MIUI Operators Manager with account name RanGer wind was first spotted on the account of the Chinese website Weibo. The account also revealed a screenshot which shows a Mi5 smartphone running the Android Nougat 7.0 build.
As per the posts, while the Xiaomi Mi 5, Mi 4c, Mi 4s and Mi Note devices will get the Android Nougat build, the users in China can track the latest available features in the MIUI forum app. Claiming the update to be a closed beta version which might carry stability issues, the account recommend the users to back-up their data before installing the new OS on the phone.
Xiaomi, however has not confirmed whether the new Mi 5s, Mi Note 2 series, Mi Mix or the Redmi series will eventually get the latest Android Nougat update or not.
With Google bringing the latest Android Nougat 7.1.1 update for the Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 9, Pixel tablet, Nexus Player and other 4G Android devices; Sony’s latest flagship smartphone Xperia XZ is also lined up with Android Nougat 7.0 update. The new update features multi-window support and longer battery life for the Sony device.
The Android Nougat 7.1.1 comes with the features like App Shortcut, Google’s Image Keyboard, diverse emojis, enhanced live wallpaper support, better VR performance.
