Xiaomi is getting ready to launch a new smartphone under its Redmi brand in the Indian market on November 30. The company announced this in a tweet today which says “A new Redmi smartphone is coming your way on Nov 30! Aa raha hai #DeshKaSmartphone”. This seems to be the same device Xiaomi India Head, Manu Kumar Jain tweeted about recently. As per the track record of the company, the smartphone should go on sale in the first week of December.

The new Redmi device that the company is teasing is being speculated to be a budget smartphone or a smart feature phone, similar to the JioPhone, due to the hashtag the company is using. Interestingly, when the Reliance Jio JioPhone was launched, the company was marketing it as the ‘India Ka Smartphone’. A few rumours are doing the rounds that this will be Xiaomi’s cheapest smartphone till date.

Currently, the cheapest handset offered by Xiaomi in India is the 2GB RAM variant of Redmi 4A which is priced at Rs 5,999. Previously it has been reported that the company may be launching the Redmi 5A in India under Rs 5,000. So don’t be surprised in you see it being unveiled on this 30th. The Redmi 5A is barely an upgrade over the Redmi 4A with pretty much the same specifications on both.
