It’s not a secret anymore that Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 flagship smartphone is finally coming to India next week. Xiaomi sets a launch event for October 10 in New Delhi where it’ll launch its bezel-less Mi Mix successor in the country. Meanwhile, both Xiaomi and its India chief Manu Kumar Jain are teasing the arrival of Mi Mix 2 flagship smartphone India launch on social media. We take a look at all of them.
Xiaomi India chief Manu Kumar Jain recently confirmed on Twitter that Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is launching in India on October 10. In the tweet, he used the hashtag #TheOriginalX. In fact, it isn’t the only tweet containing that hashtag as we’ve come across numerous such teasers so far. The social media teasers also mention the launch date as 10.10.2017, more or less taking a dig at the tenth-anniversary special Apple iPhone X.
Interestingly, both Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and Apple iPhone X share a striking resemblance to some extent. Apple iPhone X will be available for sale in India starting 3 November 2017 and the base 64GB variant will come with a hefty price tag of Rs. 89,000. Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 price in India is unknown at the time of writing this. However, it starts at RMB 3,299 in China for 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, translating roughly at around Rs 32,000.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has a 5.99-inch bezel-less screen and Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. It flaunts a ceramic unibody measuring 7.7mm in thickness and weighing 187g. It carries a massive 6GB of RAM under the hood and offers three storage options to choose from 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. During the China launch, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 special edition featuring 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage also showed up.
Up front is taken up by 18:9 display, leaving room for extremely narrow bezels on the top and offering extra real-estate to let users consume more content on the screen. The rear consists of a single 12MP main camera with 4-axis optical image stabilization. There’s a 5MP secondary camera for selfies and video calls. It runs MIUI 9 on top of Android 7.1.2 Nougat out of the box and packs a 3,400mAh battery.
Techook successfully predicted late August that Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will arrive in India. Notably, out of our list of smartphones Xiaomi is expected to launch in India in the coming months, Techook has got two predictions correct so far including Xiaomi Mi A1, which is a re-branded Mi 5X in terms of hardware that was launched in China a couple of months ago.
