Last week, Xiaomi released MIUI 9 Global Stable update for Redmi 5A. The company has now begun pushing out an update for certain other handsets like Redmi Y1, Redmi Y1 Lite, Mi MIX 2, Redmi 5, Redmi 5 Plus, Redmi 4, Mi 3, Mi 4 and Mi Note.
Folks at Xiaomi said that they are working to “gradually release the update for other devices” as well, but they did notify that the rollout will “take some time.”
Additionally, the home screen is now optimised for clock widget supported themes, moving app icons into folders and more. Additionally, revamped notification shade bundles several notifications together as per the apps. It also delivers a much awaited “quick reply” feature to let users access to WhatsApp and other messaging apps directly via a notification shade.
Xiaomi has added a fix to the Gallery to compress images and reduced the number of push notifications when the user is signed out. There are a few optimisations on Mi Drop that include fixing issues with loading heavy GIF files and sorting received files by time.
As we have mentioned, the MIUI 9.2 Global Stable ROM is available for Xiaomi devices that run MIUI 9 stable. In case your device is running MIUI 5 or above you can update via OTA or flash the ROM manually. Users are recommended to back-up their data before tapping the install button.
