Xiaomi newly launched smartphones from the Y-series, Redmi Y1 and the Redmi Y1 Lite will go on sale in India today. The Redmi Y1 is a smartphone purely meant for selfie lovers while the Y1 Lite is a budget-oriented smartphone that packs entry-level specifications. The all-new Redmi Y series sale will kick off today on the online retail platform Amazon India and Mi.com.
Prospective buyers can head on to Amazon website and tap on the ‘Notify Me’ to get notified when the sale starts on the e-retail site. The smartphones will also be available for purchase on Mi.com.
Redmi Y1 & Redmi Y1 Lite launch offers
Xiaomi during the Redmi Y-series launch event announced that the company in partnership with telecom service provider Idea will offer its users 280GB of 4G data. The offer, however, is available for new Idea prepaid subscribers only. Xiaomi will also provide free one-year Hungama Music subscription for those who purchase the Redmi Y1 or the Redmi Y1 Lite. But there’s a catch, Xiaomi on its website have mentioned that the offer is limited to first five lakh combined buyers of all the Mi and Redmi devices. Mi and Redmi users can also get a free 3-month subscription of Hungama Play. Besides the new Redmi Y-series, the free Hungama Music subscription is also available on the smartphones Mi MIX 2, Mi Max 2, Redmi Note 4 among others.
Redmi Y1 & Y1 Lite Price
The Redmi Y1 3GB RAM model was launched at a price of Rs. 8,999, meanwhile the 4GB RAM tags a price of Rs. 10,999. The Y1 Lite, on the other hand, is priced at Rs. 6,999. Both the handsets are made in India.
Redmi Y1 & Y1 Lite Specifications
The selfie-centric Redmi Y1 features a 16MP front-facing camera and carries a dedicated front LED flash module. The camera sensor has a “Pixel binning” technology that is meant to reduce noise and improve low light quality. The front camera comes with f/2.0 aperture and has 76.4-degree wide angle lens. It has a face recognition feature as well. As for the rear camera, it has a 13-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. The back camera comes with real-time, burst mode, panorama and HDR mode. The phone features a 5.5-inch HD (1280×720 pixel resolution)display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by Snapdragon 435 SoC and has a dedicated microSD slot.
The Redmi Y1 Lite meanwhile, features a 5.5-inch HD display with 720×1280 resolution. It is fueled by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset paired with 2GB of RAM. Internal storage is at 16GB and it has expandable storage support of up to 128GB via microSD card. It packs a 13MP rear camera with PDAF support and a 5MP front-facing camera. Unlike the Y1, the Redmi Y Lite doesn’t feature a fingerprint scanner. Both the handsets pack a battery backup of 3080mAh that promises up to 10 days standby time.
