Xiaomi was one of the first companies to bring an affordable nearly bezel-less smartphone to the market with the Mi Mix. The company is about to launch another device with a bezel-less display, the Xiaomi X1. According to leaks and rumours, Xiaomi may ditch the Redmi Pro 2 this time in order to introduce the new X1. Leaks have been a bit confusing lately and we can’t say whether the Redmi Pro 2 and X1 are different devices or X1 is a replacement for the Redmi Pro series.
The leaks have been coming through a Weibo account, which is known for leaks coming from Chinese companies. The newest leak suggest that the new Xiaomi X1 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 chipset and will feature a 5.5-inch full screen with a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels. According to the leaks, the phone will come in two variants, one with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage or the other with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. At the rear, the phone has a 12-megapixel dual camera setup of Sony IMX362 or IMX386 sensors followed by the fingerprint scanner.

As per the leaks, the 3.5mm headphone jack will remain and the phone is not completely bezel-less. The leaks also claim that Redmi Pro 2 might not launch as it did not garner great sales number according to the company. Leaks also confirm that Xiaomi will keep the Redmi and Redmi Note line-up. Another report from GSMArena claims that Redmi Pro 2 is a different smartphone compared to the X1, and there are chances of both releasing eventually. Additionally, leaks suggest that the Xiaomi X1 will be launched alongside the Mi 6 plus and will come with MIUI 9 out-of-the-box.
