It’s been a few weeks since Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5A, which appears to be a successor to last year’s Redmi 4A, has been making the headlines.

Xiaomi expanded its affordable lineup of Redmi smartphones on Monday with a new device dubbed Redmi Note 5A. It’s been a few weeks since Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5A, which appears to be a successor to last year’s Redmi 4A, has been making the headlines. Interestingly, the Redmi Note 5A costs lower than all the previously launched Redmi devices in China such as Redmi 4, 4X, and Note 4X. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A has been announced in two variants with the base model retailing for 699 Yuan, which translates roughly at Rs 6,750. Another variant of the Redmi Note 5A is priced at 899 yuan (approximately Rs 8,700).

As for specifications, the Redmi Note 5A flaunts a 5.5-inch HD (1,280 x 720) screen featuring 267 ppi pixel density and 2.5D curved glass layered on top. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 eight-core SoC bundled with Adreno 505 GPU for graphics. The device in question comes in two memory options: 3GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage. The storage is further expandable up to 128GB by means of a dedicated memory card slot, however.

Design-wise, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A offers a full metal unibody, measuring 7.7mm in thickness and weighing 153g. The antenna lines run across the rear of the device while the fingerprint scanner sits right on the back. AS far as photography is concerned, the device houses a 13MP rear shooter with a phase detection autofocus (PDAF), f/2.2 aperture, and LED flash. The camera also supports HDR, panorama, continuous shooting, face recognition, and real-time filter. Up front, there’s a 16MP selfie camera for selfies and video calls.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A packs a 3,080mAh battery under the hood. On the connectivity front, it supports 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS. The phone also comes with an IR blaster so you can control your AC and TV. Other standard sets of supported sensors include gyro, accelerometer, compass, ambient light sensor, and more. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A comes in three colour options: Champagne Gold, Rose Gold, and Platinum Silver Gray.
