Xiaomi might be ready to launch its first smartphone in the United States, as a report from GSMArena states that a smartphone from the company identical to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A Prime has been spotted on the US FCC website. The report states that the handset will be launching in the US pretty soon.
Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 5A Prime alongside the Redmi Note 5A back in August in China. As for the specifications, the Redmi Note 5A Prime sports a 5.5-inch HD display with a resolution of 720×1280. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 chipset coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. It runs on Google’s Android Nougat operating system with MIUI 9 on top.
As for the camera, it comes with a 13-megapixel primary camera with Phase Detection Autofocus and LED Flash. On the front, the device features a 16-megapixel 76-degree wide-angle sensor with selfie flash and real-time filters.
As of now, the company hasn’t yet released any official statement as to when it will bring the device to the US, so we would recommend that you wait for the company to announce the device officially before making any assumptions.
The company presumably has shipped a total of 10 million smartphones globally in the month of September. The company only sells its Android TV set-top boxes in the US. We now have to wait and see as to how the brand performs in the smartphone market in the US. The company in November 2016 said that it was testing out the compatibility of its devices with the US telecom carriers.
