There was a report earlier this week that Xiaomi could be working on a new version of the company’s highest-selling Redmi flagship smartphone, allegedly Redmi Note 5. In what could be a retail box leak suggesting another variant of the upcoming Redmi Note 5, Xiaomi is possibly working on Redmi Note 5A. Despite a lack of any concrete details available at this point in time, Redmi Note 5A is expected to be a younger sibling of Redmi Note 5. Xiaomi is yet to confirm any development around the upcoming Redmi flagship line, though.
According to leaked specifications of Xiaomi Redmi 5A, it features a 5.5-inch Full HD screen, a Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC, and 4GB of RAM. The device is said to deal with 64GB of storage without any details with regards to its storage expandability. The Redmi 5A is tipped to feature a dual camera setup. One of the lenses is expected to be wide angle whereas another lens could a telephoto for digital zoom. The retail box of Redmi Note 5A has also been leaked suggesting Redmi Note 5A is about to soon.
Previously leaked specifications of Redmi Note 5 suggests it will run yet-to-be-announced MIUI 9 on top of Android Nougat. Xiaomi could sport a similar 5.5-inch 1080p display as that of Redmi Note 4 (Review), resulting in 401 pixels packed into every inch. The upcoming Redmi Note 5 is could be powered by Qualcomm’s fairly new mid-range Snapdragon 630 octa-core SoC. As a result, the device is likely to flaunt connectivity options such as USB 3.1, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC. It is said to house a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 13-megapixel selfie camera.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will possibly be backed a 3,790mAh battery, which is less than that of Redmi Note 4. But on a positive note, it could support Quick Charge 4.0. It is likely of Xiaomi to unveil Redmi Note 5 in multiple options: 3GB of RAM with 32GB of storage and 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage. It is likely to be priced at $200 (approximately Rs 12,970) for the base variant.
