A new report about Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 has joined the on-going rumour mill. A mysterious Xiaomi device recently surfaced on a Chinese e-tailer JD.com. According to the listing, it’ll feature a FullView display at price of 8,888 Yuan (approximately Rs. 8,700). The price, however, may change once the device is announced officially. Xiaomi seems to be following the footsteps of Samsung, Apple, Vivo as far as featuring a bezel-less display is concerned.
Previously, a Xiaomi phone bearing the model numbers MEE7 and MET7 were found listed on a certification site TENAA, revealing pictures and key specifications. The listing reveals a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. From the pictures, it appears somewhat similar in looks to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.
The TENAA listing further reveals that the device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC along with Adreno 509 GPU. The device is expected in two variants: 3GB of RAM with 32GB of storage and 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage. The phone is said to feature a 4,000mAh battery under the hood, which is a bit smaller than the Redmi Note 4.
Previously, there were some reports that Xiaomi may launch Redmi Note 5 by late 2017 or early next year. Xiaomi is expected to bring the handset to India soon after unveiling in China, thanks to Redmi’s popularity in the Indian market. Recently, the company launched a new smartphone series called the ‘Y’ series in India for selfie lovers.
