The Chinese OEM, Xiaomi’s budget smartphones Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4 and Redmi 4A are some of the popular devices that seized consumers attention in India. While the Redmi Note 5A landed last month, the company seems to be working on Redmi Note 4’s successor, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. A plethora of rumours have been hovering on the Internet over the past few months and the device has now surfaced in new renders. The concept renders has been shared by tech publication 91Mobiles which are based on leaks and rumours that are making rounds in the e-hub.
The concept phone as seen in the images is sculpted out of metal, with the fingerprint sensor placed on the rear panel right below the dual-tone LED flash. It further reveal thinner bezels on the sides (which is quite unlikely), and capacitive keys up front for navigation. 91Mobiles speculate that the supposed Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 might feature a 5.5-inch full HD (1080×1920 resolution) display. The button placement are seen located on the same side as the one found on other Redmi smartphones. The power button, and volume keys are placed on the right side and the SIM tray sits on the left edge. A 3.5mm audio jack lies at the top next to an IR blaster.
The concept renders also show off smooth chamfered edges and fine antenna running on top and bottom of the device. Apparently, these new renders refute previous reports on imaging front. Leaked images previously revealed single camera setup on the back, however, the new concept renders tip off dual rear camera array on the supposed Redmi Note 5. Readers should keep in note that this are concept renders based on leaks, the real Redmi Note 5 may or may not carry these aspects.
Reports earlier have suggested that the handset might be powered either by Qualcomm’s latest mobile platform Snapdragon 660 or the Helio P25 SoC, depending on regions. The phone is also rumoured to ship in two variants- 3GB RAM+32GB storage and 4GB RAM+64GB native storage. The battery capacity on the phone could be a downgrade compared to its predecessor Redmi Note 4 that packs a 4,100mAh battery. The phone is said to carry a 3680mAh battery and support Quick Charge 3.0. It is further tipped to run Xiaomi’s new MIUI 9 based Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS.
