The upgrade variant of the Redmi Note 3 landed in the Indian smartphone market last month in January. At a starting price of Rs. 9,999 (2GB RAM) the upgrade Redmi Note 4 was available only in Gold and Dark Gray colour that went on sale exclusively on the e-retail platform Flipkart and Mi.com. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer, however, during the Redmi Note 4 launch in India promised that it will bring a Matte Black colour version of the device soon. Following its promise, the company on Tuesday confirmed that the Black version will be available for purchase on both the platform on March 1st at 12PM along with the other color variants.

Redmi India in its official Twitter handle put out a tweet about the release that read, “Drop EVERYTHING and read! #RedmiNote4 – BLACK is coming your way on 1 March, 12 noon! Mark the date and make it yours!”

 

The refresh, the Redmi Note 4 was launched on January 19 and the device went on sale five days after its launch on January 23. Xiaomi claimed that it sold over 2,50,000 units of Redmi Note 4 units in just 10 minutes on both Flipkart and Mi.com in the first sale.

The phone is available in three storage variants- 2GB RAM/32GB storage which costs Rs. 9,999; 3GB RAM/32GB onboard storage for Rs. 10,999 and 4GB RAM/64GB inbuilt storage for Rs. 12,999.

To refresh, the Redmi Note 4 features a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display. The device though seems to have similar design language like its predecessor, the Redmi Note 4 comes with a better processor, neat curved edges and improved optics. The phone powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 SoC, instead of Snapdragon 650 processor found on the Redmi Note 3. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with company’s own MIUI 8 on top of it. The phone is beefed up with a 4100mAh battery.

The Redmi Note 4 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF) and dual-tone LED flash. On the front, the phone comes with a 5-megapixel camera. The fingerprint sensor is embedded right below the rear camera module. It is a hybrid dual SIM smartphone that supports 4G LTE connectivity, VoLTE.
