Over the past few months, we have seen several images, came across rumours and leaks of the supposedly upcoming Xiaomi Redmi phones. While reports have pointed towards the successor of the Redmi 4A to be in works, a leaked image has emerged online revealing the alleged Redmi 5A.

The image spotted by GizmoChina (via ITHome) is said to be a ‘spy photo’ of an official poster of the smartphone. The image shows off the design, rear camera placement on the device. If you take a closer look at the image, the smartphone looks somewhat similar to the Redmi 4A. However, the supposed Redmi 5A appears to feature a metal body instead of a plastic sheath found on the Redmi 4A. Fine antenna lines could be seen running on top and bottom of the device. The rear camera is located on the top left corner at the back with LED flash alongside. The ‘Mi’ branding is seen imprinted at the centre while the speaker grills are located down below on the rear side.

The image also has some texts at the base which as per the report after translation reads, “Lightweight and Long Battery Life”. The text reveals that the alleged Redmi 5A might have 8-day standby battery life, weigh around 137 grams and could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The poster further cites that the device might likely come pre-installed with Xiaomi’s latest custom skin MIUI 9.

A recent TENAA listing revealed that the Redmi 5A might sport a 5-inch HD display. It might utilise a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor. The listing suggests the smartphone could likely come with either 2GB/3GB RAM paired with 16GB/32GB native storage. The phone is tipped to pack a 3000mAh battery.

Separately, popular tipster Roland Quandt had claimed that the upcoming Redmi 5 series will have three smartphones- Redmi 5, Redmi 5A and the Redmi 5 Plus. While leaks about the Redmi 5 and 5A have been pouring in abundance, the Redmi 5 Plus is a new addition to the list. Reports speculate that the ‘Plus’ variant could pack a bigger battery, big screen and more storage.

Quandt further reveals that the Redmi 5A will come with 16GB storage and will have four colour options- Rose Gold, Gold, Black and Grey. The Redmi 5 meanwhile is said to offer two storage options- 16GB, 32GB and will likely come in Gold and Black colour options. The Redmi 5 Plus, on the other hand, is tipped to come in Black and Grey colour schemes.
