Xiaomi putting an end to numerous rumours has finally launched the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 at event in China today.  The highlight of the smartphone is its bezel-less display which is said to be 11.9 percent smaller in the body compared to the original Mi Mix. The handset also comes with the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset onboard.

Specifications-wise, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 features a 5.99-inch FHD (1080×2160 pixels) 18:9 display with a pixel density of 403ppi. It is powered by a Snapdragon 835 SoC clocked at up to 2.45GHz and paired with 6GB of RAM. The Chinese handset maker has also introduced a Special edition of the Mi MIX 2 that packs a whopping 8GB of RAM. The phone comes in three storage options- 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. The storage on the device however is not expandable.

The Mi MIX 2 boasts a ceramic body and utilises Cantilever piezoelectric ceramic acoustic system instead of a standard piece, allowing users to listen to calls without the earpiece, similar to the Mi MIX smartphone. The device comes with sound guided speaker that has 50mW high power speaker with sound guided tube for an enhanced audio experience. The smartphone also supports for 6 modes and 43 bands. The Mi MIX 2 is built out of 7-Series aluminium and the front facing camera is placed down below on the right side of the device. The fingerprint sensor is embedded on the rear panel.

As far as the optics are concerned, the Mi MIX 2 sports a 12-megapixel Sony IMX386 sensor with 4-axis optical image stabilisation, f/2.0 aperture and dual-tone LED flash. At the front, it gets a 5-megapixel camera with a facial recognition function.

The smartphone runs MIUI 9 based Android 7.1 Nougat and supports dual SIM. Connectivity options include- 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS, A-GPS, Bluetooth v5.0, and USB Type-C port. Sensors on board include- accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, digital compass, gyroscope, and ultrasonic proximity sensor. In terms of dimension, the generic version of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 measures 151.8×75.5×7.7mm, and weighs 185 grams. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 Special Edition meanwhile measures 150.5×74.6×7.7mm and weighs 187 grams. Both the models pack a battery capacity of 3400mAh.

Coming to the price, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant is priced at CNY 3,299 (roughly Rs. 32,300) for its, the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage model has been priced at CNY 3,599 (roughly Rs. 35,300) while the 6GB RAM/ 256GB storage version comes for CNY 3,999 (roughly Rs. 39,200). The Mi MIX 2 Special Edition, with 8GB RAM/128GB storage is priced at CNY 4,699 (roughly Rs. 46,000). The standard version of the new Mi MIX comes in Black while the Special Edition with full ceramic body will be available in Black and White colour options.
