The Chinese handset maker, Xiaomi is getting ready to unveil the next-generation bezel-less version of the Mi MIX smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2. Just last week, the company teased about its upcoming bezel-less smartphone, and it has now revealed the launch date. Xiaomi took to its Weibo handle to confirm that the official launching of the Mi Mix 2 on September 11. The venue for the upcoming Xiaomi smartphone launch event will be at University of Technology Gymnasium in Beijing.
Just like its processor, the Mi MIX 2 will have ultra-thin bezels, but reports suggest that the smartphone will carry a higher 93 percent screen-to-body ratio instead of 91.3 percent screen-to-body ratio found in the original Mi MIX. The device could retain a similar screen size at 6.44-inch and ceramic body as the Mi MIX smartphone.
In addition to this leaks and reports that have been rounds online over the past few months, Philippe Starck, the original designer of the Mi MIX shared a concept video last week showing off a handset with ultra-thin bezels. The video revealed the supposed Mi MIX 2 featuring barely an outline on both sides and top of the display. The front camera is seen placed right where it was pitched on the Mi MIX phone.
Specifications wise, the Mi MIX 2 will reportedly feature a 6.4-inch display with a 2560×1440 resolution. The smartphone is said to carry an AMOLED panel instead of an LCD panel on the Mi MIX. The device top of the line processor from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 835. The phone is expected to come in two RAM/ storage options- 4GB RAM+128GB storage and a 6GB RAM+256GB RAM storage model. The Mi MIX 2 is tipped to come with a dual camera setup, pack a 4500mAh battery and run Android 7.1.1 out of the box. The fingerprint sensor is said to employ underneath the display of the device.
The original Mi Mix was launched in October last year and while it was made available for users in China and a few other countries it never made way to India. But this time around Xiaomi might likely have a different strategy up its sleeves, given that more OEMs are expected to come up with nearly bezel-less offering falling under affordable price bracket.
