Xiaomi is all set to launch its phablet size smartphone Xiaomi Mi Max 2 in India today. The company is hosting an event in New Delhi to unwrap this handset. The highlight of the smartphone is its massive 5300mAh battery and a big 6.44-inch display.

To refresh, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 was officially introduced in China back in May this year. The smartphone was announced in two storage variants- 64GB for a price of CNY 1,699 (around Rs. 16,000), and a 128GB model priced at CNY 1,999 (around Rs. 19,000). Whether both the variants will mark its way to India, that remains to be seen, but, we expect Xiaomi might bring the Mi Max 2 with a similar price tag for its Indian consumers.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the Mi Max 2 sports a phablet size 6.44-inch full HD (1080×1920 resolution) display. The phone features a 12-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX386 sensor. The primary camera comes with PDAF (phase detection auto focus) support and dual LED flash At the front, it has a 5-megapixel sensor for selfies. The new Mi Max 2 is powered by a 2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor fabricated with 14nm FinFET technology. The processor is paired with 4GB of RAM.

In terms of design, the Mi Max 2 carries a metal unibody with fingerprint sensor located on the back panel.  The USB Type-C charging port and speaker grills are placed at the bottom of the device. The handset packs a mammoth size 5300mAh battery and comes with Quick Charge 3.0 support which is rated to charge the new Mi Max 2 up to 68 per cent just within an hour. Xiaomi claims that the battery on the new phablet will last for up to two days. Interestingly, the device has dual charging module which is said to deliver better heat dispersion. Connectivity options on the phone include- 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4/5GHz) MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, GPS and +GLONASS. It measures 174.1×88.7×7.6mm and weighs 211 grams. The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 was unveiled in China in a single colour option- Gold.
