Xiaomi Mi 7 flagship smartphone is said to launch in Q1 2018, according to reports citing a Weibo post. The Xiaomi Mi 6 first arrived in the Chinese market with dual cameras and Snapdragon 835 SoC, and without a 3.5mm headphone jack, and last but not least. It’s also the first ever Xiaomi Mi-branded handset to feature everything we just mentioned.
As per reports, successor to Xiaomi’s Mi 6 could be powered by Qualcomm next-gen SoC. Although no concrete details with regards to model name or number are available as of now, Xiaomi’s naming convention suggests it will most probably be called Mi 7.
Xiaomi’s alleged Mi 7 could be unveiled in the first quarter of the year 2018, which if found true would make perfect sense. The Xiaomi Mi 6 was announced in April this year. So, the company is said to take at least a year to release its successor in the market. Meanwhile, Xiaomi is also on the verge of announcing the Mi Mix 2 in China next week. Xiaomi did not launch its first Mi Mix smartphone in India. That, however, is expected to change with the Mi Mix 2.
Coming back to Mi 7, reports suggest citing the Weibo post that Xiaomi would opt for Snapdragon 845, which was earlier tipped to be in works and expected with a new 7nm process. Furthermore, reports also suggest that Xiaomi Mi 7 could sport a bigger 6-inch screen as compared to its predecessor. We are not able to verify the authenticity of the report as of now.
Last week, we saw a report that Snapdragon 845 processor could also power Samsung Galaxy S9.
