Xiaomi today launched its second dual camera smartphone from the Mi Series, the Xiaomi Mi 5X in China. The company also unveiled its latest custom ROM skin MIUI 9 based on Android 7.0 Nougat.
The Xiaomi Mi 5X features a 5.5-inch LTPS full HD (1080×1920 resolution) display. The display has 450nit brightness and comes with 1000:1 contrast ratio. Like the Mi 6, the device has a similar dual camera setup located on the back panel at the top left side. The smartphone sports a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens with 1.25µm and f/2.2 aperture and 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 1µm and f/2.6 aperture. It comes with two-colour warm flash, Portrait mode, and dark light enhancement technology. On the front, it gets a 5-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calls.
The Xiaomi Mi 5X is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2GHz and paired with 4GB of RAM. The phone offers 64GB inbuilt storage which can be expanded up to 128GB using microSD card. It boasts a metal unibody design with antenna bands sitting on the curvature. The fingerprint sensor is embedded on the back panel. The new Mi 5X runs Android 7.0 Nougat based on company’s MIUI skin based on top. The device includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS/A-GPS, USB Type-C port and 3.5mm headphone jack under its connectivity suite. Sensors on board include- infrared sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, proximity sensor, and ambient light sensor.
The Xiaomi Mi 5X is equipped with a 3080mAh battery and comes with a dedicated amplifier. It measures 155.4×75.8×7.33mm and weighs 165 grams. As for the pricing, the smartphone is priced in China at CNY 1,499 which is roughly Rs. 14,200. The handset comes in three colour schemes- Black, Gold, and Pink and it will be up for sale in China from August 1.
