The Chinese OEM, Xiaomi has launched a new colour model of the Mi 5X smartphone. The all-new Xiaomi Mi 5X Red Special Edition has been introduced in the home country, China for a price of CNY 1,500 (roughly Rs. 14,700). The phone will be available for purchase starting November 1 through online and offline stores.
Other than the red paint, all other aspects on the new colour variant are similar to the original Mi 5X. Like the black, gold or rose gold colour version, it has an all-black front panel. To recap, the Mi 5X was announced as rebranded Mi A1 in India. Xiaomi partnered with Google to venture Android One, and provide stock Android on Mi A1 instead on custom MIUI skin. The Mi A1 is expected to get Android 8.0 Oreo update by the end of the year.
Coming to the Redmi 5X Red Special Edition, it runs on Xiaomi MIUI 9 based Android 7.0 Nougat OS. The phone flaunts an aluminium body and dual rear camera array. It features a 5.5-inch LTPS full HD display (1080×1920 resolution). The smartphone sports a 12MP wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture and a 12MP telephoto lens with f/2.6 aperture. The dual camera has dual warm-colour flash alongside and comes with dark light enhancement technology. The rear cameras are capable of recording slow-mo videos at 120fps and 4K content at 30fps. Up front, it has a 5-megapixel camera to make video calls and take selfies.
The Xiaomi Mi 5X Special Edition is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2GHz. It packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage. Internals storage can be further expanded up to 128GB using microSD card. The Mi 5X house a 3800mAh battery and comes with a dedicated amplifier. Connectivity options on the phone 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS/A-GPS, USB Type-C port and 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on board include- infrared sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, proximity sensor, and ambient light sensor. Xiaomi has not shared any official word whether the Special Edition model will mark its way outside China.
