Xiaomi made over $1 billion last year, and now the Company is confident that they will make over $2 billion from its Indian operations this year. Xiaomi has been an online only brand since entering in India and now that they are most likely to hit the mark that they have set. Manu Jain, Managing Director, Xiaomi India said that the growth will be driven by strong sales of its smartphones and further expansion of the brand in the country. The company today also announced that it will be launching the MIUI 9 on July 27.
“We have seen 328 per cent growth in H1 2017 compared to same period last year. This was driven by strong sales of devices like Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4A and Redmi 4. 2X growth over last year is definitely achievable in 2017,”
Manu Jain told PTI.
Xiaomi currently has around 500 service centres around India which are almost double from the 225 it had in the beginning of 2017. Manu Jain also commented that they will focus on expanding into the retail market along with improving their after sales services. Xiaomi is also setting up Mi Homes across India, their own brick and mortar stores in which people can experience various Mi products. The first Mi Home store opened in Bengaluru.

Xiaomi today also launched the Mi Max 2 which is priced at Rs. 16,999. The phone comes with a 6.44-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 625 SoC, along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of Internal Storage expandable via a microSD card. All of this is backed by a 5,300mAh battery.
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will go on sale openly from July 27 and will be available both via online and offline platforms. Xiaomi also announced during the event that the Mi Max 2 will be available on an open sale on mi.com and Mi Home stores exclusively on July 201 and 21. This will be a part of the company’s third-year anniversary celebration sale.
