Apple at its WWDC keynote not only addressed about software but also introduced a few major products- the new iMac Pro, HomePod and iPad Pro.
The Cupertino tech company unveiled the 10.5-inch iPad Pro which likely said to replace the 9.7-inch iPad Pro. Apple announced a refreshed 12.9-inch iPad Pro as well. The new iPad Pro lineup comes with A10X Fusion chip and ProMotion technology. The new iPad models will also with the newest iOS 11 which will release this fall. The all-new 10.5-inch iPad Pro features slim-bezel design (by nearly 40 per cent) and a bumped-up resolution of 2224×1668 pixels and weighs just one pound.
The Retina display on the new iPad Pro with ProMotion technology will deliver refresh rates of up to 120GHz for fluid scrolling, greater responsiveness and smoother motion content. Apple says that with ProMotion, Apple Pencil will be even more responsive. Further the company claims that ProMotion will improve display quality and reduces power consumption by automatically adjusting the display refresh rate to match the movement of the content as well. The Retina display in the new iPad Pro models is said to be Apple’s brightest display yet. It sports antireflective coating, True Tone which dynamically adjust white balance of the display to deliver natural and accurate viewing experience.
The new iPad models now come with 64-bit A10X Fusion chip with six core-CPU and 12-core GPU alongside. Apple says, “A six-core CPU and 12-core GPU deliver up to 30 percent faster CPU performance and 40 percent faster graphics performance than the industry-leading A9X chip, while delivering all-day battery life.”
The new iPad Pro lineup features similar back and front cameras as on iPhone 7, a 12-megapixel camera with optical image stabilisation along with a 7-megapixel FaceTime HD camera. The iPad Pro also sports a four-speaker audio system which is claimed to provide ‘powerful, clear and rich sound in any orientation.’ The new iPad Pro models support embedded Apple SIM and includes Wi-Fi 802.11ac and LTE Advanced under its connectivity suite. Moreover, the new iPad lineup sports Apple’s Touch ID and Apple Pay as well.
With the new iOS 11, the iPad Pro models will get a new customisable Dock, improved multitasking, a redesigned app switcher, new Files App, multi-touch Drag and Drop and deeper integration with Apple Pencil.
As for the pricing, the new 10.5-inch iPad Pro starts at $649 for the 64GB with Wi-Fi model while the 64GB Wi-Fi+ Cellular model will cost $779. It will come in three colour options- Silver, Space Gray and Rose Gold. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro pricing starts at $799 for the 64GB Wi-Fi model and $929 for the 64GB Wi-Fi Cellular model. The all new iPad Pro models are now available to order from Monday on Apple’s online store. Both the models will be made available next week in Apple stores through select carriers and Apple Authorised Resellers in the US and 37 additional countries. Apple is also bringing a new Leather Sleeve for both the 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro in a range of colors for a price of $129 and $149 respectively.
