    • The app will let users identify verified and non-verified businesses

WhatsApp may soon release a standalone application for businesses. This new app will feature both verified and unverified business profiles from across the globe.

For some time now, businesses in Asia are utilising WhatsApp as an informal means of communication with their customers. The reason is ease of use and the popularity of the app.

In a recent FAQ published on WhatsApp website, the company mentioned details about Business accounts, including how to distinguish between verified and unverified profiles.

During this Year, WhatsApp also rolled out business-focused Verified Profiles. This feature allows the verified companies to communicate with users.

In the FAQ, WhatsApp says “While chatting with businesses, you can check your contact’s profile to see which type of account they’re using. A verified account has a green checkmark badge in its profile.”

It further adds “A business account with a grey question mark badge in its profile means the account is using the WhatsApp Business app but hasn’t been confirmed nor verified by WhatsApp.”

WhatsApp currently tests Business app a private group of beta testers. Afterwards, it’ll introduce it as a standalone app for both Android and iOS users.

As of now, Google Play Store description for the app reads, “As a test partner for ‘WhatsApp Business,’ you have early access to a wide range of new features that we’ve built with you in mind.”
