WhatsApp has pushed a new update to version 2.18.30 for iOS devices. The new update brings a few features similar to what we have seen on Instagram and Snapchat.

The latest WhatsApp update includes time and location stickers that iPhone users can add to their photos and videos. The update will also let users search for a participant from the group info window itself. This is helpful when you want to chat with a member individually from the group list.

In case you have received the update on your iPhone this is how you can use the new features-

  • Select a photo from the gallery by tapping on the ‘+’ icon next to the ‘message box’ and then click ‘Photo & Video library’ button
  • After selecting a photo/video, press the smiley icon that you will see on the top bar
  • The icon will show a list of smileys, time stamps, location stamps etc. You can search and add time/location stickers that you want
  • You can also remove the stickers by dragging and dropping it in the bin icon that is placed on the top left corner of the screen

While this new addition gives an Insta/Snapchat like touch on iOS, the features are yet to arrive on Android platform. The update for iOS too is rolling out in a phased manner. Apple’s App Store preview for WhatsApp shows the latest update file size to be 154.9MB and it is compatible with devices running iOS 7.0 and above.

WhatsApp is reportedly working on group voice call as well. Reports suggest that the feature will arrive on iOS platform soon. As per WABetaInfo, a new dialer logo with ‘+’ sign will be put on the instant-messaging layout which will allow users to add participants for group voice call.
