WhatsApp for iOS has been updated with the ability of Siri being able to read out latest messages and some other UI improvements.
The latest update version 2.17.20 of WhatsApp for iOS rolled out on Friday. The update bundle adds additional functionality for Siri, which is that “you can now ask Siri to read your latest messages” and it works for all Apple iOS devices running iOS 10.3 and above.
Users on their iPhone can now simply can say ‘Hey Siri’ followed up the command ‘read my last WhatsApp message’. What this functionality does is that Siri read out the last received message with sender information.
Furthermore, Siri will ask users if they want to respond and will even take dictation for the reply. Just to note, Siri could already take dictation to send a message through WhatsApp. All you need to do was, say ‘Hey Siri’, ‘WhatsApp X person’ that ‘Call me in X minutes or Anything you want to text’.
Other than that, the latest WhatsApp update to adds some “visual improvements to the Calls tab, Contact Info and Group Info screens.” The call icon has been replaced with ‘+’ icon. Lastly, WhatsApp has added Persian language support for iOS too.
Previously, WhatsApp added two factor authentication as an extra security layer. But what’s coming may be is that soon you’ll be able to share your ‘Live Location’ on WhatsApp. The feature is said to be in testing and is expected to roll out in coming months.
