WhatsApp is testing status feature much like Snapchat and Instagram stories. The hidden feature in WhatsApp 2.17.5 Beta version was first spotted by WABetainfo. It is said to be working for all WhatsApp mobile applications with this new Beta update and is expected to roll out via official stable update in coming days.

With the Beta update, the Facebook-owned company teased its upcoming WhatsApp Status feature through six disappearing status updates. In this feature, WhatsApp users will be able to edit and post images, GIFs and videos as their WhatsApp Status. Each update will disappear after 24 hours, just like Snapchat or Instagram Stories. Also, users will not be able to check the previous status updates once disappeared. WhatsApp privacy settings will allow Status visibility control for others.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is also working on message retract/ revoke feature. Thie will allow WhatsApp user to retract or delete the sent message in a given time duration. The feature is expected to work across all WhatsApp platforms and may get available very soon.

The company recently rolled out ‘Two-step verification’ feature for all it’s users. It is an optional feature that adds an extra layer of protection to WhatsApp user side. Upon enabling the two-step verification, WhatsApp will ask you to put in six-digit passcode followed by an email address.

When you have the two-step verification enabled for your WhatsAapp nobody can use your WhatsApp even if they got hold of your SIM card and verification code.
