Vodafone has finally rolled out its Voice over Long-Term Evolution (VoLTE) services in select telecom circles like Mumbai, Gujarat and Delhi-NCR. Vodafone VoLTE services were initially supposed to go live last month itself, at least that’s what Vodafone promised towards the end of last year. But anyway, better late than never.
We got in touch with Vodafone to know what kind of changes to expect in the coming months. Responding to our query, Vodafone said that their customers can now expect superior call quality and network strength. The company also informed Techook that all the existing plans remain valid on their VoLTE network as well.
Vodafone VoLTE services are effective starting today in select Indian states and cities like Mumbai, Gujarat (Surat and Ahmedabad) and Delhi NCR, as mentioned earlier. The rollout is taking place in a phased manner, and the next rollout slot will cover two more telecom circles like Karnataka and Kolkata.
To enjoy the benefits of VoLTE, customers need to ensure that they are using a 4G VoLTE-enabled smartphone and Vodafone 4G SIM. Henceforth, eligible Vodafone prepaid and postpaid voice calls shall now be routed via their VoLTE network. Their SuperNet 4G customers will bear no additional cost to enjoy VoLTE.
“We have consistently invested in building, a robust and future-fit data strong network pan India. We will be expanding the Vodafone VoLTE experience in several more circles shortly,” Vodafone India’s MD and CEO, Sunil Sood said in a statement.
In other news, Vodafone recently revised many of their prepaid plans with increased data. They also made changes to their higher denomination plans with up to 40% additional data.
