    • Vodafone Rs 198 plan offers 28 GB 4G data benefit
    •  Jio Happy New 2018 plan offers 1.2GB data per day for 28 days

The competition between the leading telecom network providers like Jio, Vodafone and Airtel has intensified, courtesy of Jio’s Happy New Year 2018 plans and their aftereffects. As a result, Airtel and Vodafone have announced similar plans to compete with Reliance Jio.

Vodafone Rs 198 prepaid plan lets users benefit from 28GB high-speed 4G data for 28 days. However, it has a FUP limit of 1GB data per day. Other benefits include unlimited calls (local, STD and roaming) and daily 100 SMS.

The new Airtel Rs 199 plan has the exact same benefits as that of Vodafone i.e., daily 1GB of 4G data for 28 days, unlimited local, STD and roaming calls and 100 SMS per day.

Both Airtel and Vodafone plans are on par with Jio Rs 199 (to some extent). Unlike the competition, Jio Happy New 2018 Rs 199 plan offers 1.2GB data per day for 28 days. Upon hitting the FUP limit, the data speed will come down to 128kbps.

Similar to all the existing Jio prepaid plans, Jio Rs 199 plan offers unlimited local, STD and roaming calls in addition to unlimited SMS and access to premium Jio apps and services.

To sum it up, Jio Rs 199 plan is marginally better than the other two in terms of data. But Vodafone and Airtel users won’t be too disappointed with what their providers are offering at the same price, especially after both companies added 27GB extra data to their respective Rs 198 and Rs 199 plans.

In other news, Vodafone is on the verge of announcing high-speed 4G VoLTE services in India starting next month. The initial rollout phase covers select Indian cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Gujrat, Kolkata and Karnataka.

So it goes without saying, the year 2018 will be a battleground in the true sense with Airtel and Vodafone expanding their VoLTE presence across India, and Jio causing happy disruptions. Stay tuned on Techook for more on that!
