Telecom network operators continue announcing new plans to compete with Reliance Jio. Vodafone India on Wednesday announced a new plan for prepaid customers that costs Rs. 199. Under the new plan, users will benefit from 1GB of 4G data along with unlimited calls (both local and STD). This plan apparently takes on Reliance Jio Rs. 149 plan that offers similar benefits.
Although unlimited calling sounds impressive at Rs. 199, it is not really the case this time around. Vodafone users can enjoy free 250 minutes (off-net calls) per day for both local and STD while the weekly limit is 1,000 minutes. Upon exceeding this calling limit, users will be charged 30 paise per minute. What is even surprising is the fact that Vodafone will also charge 30 paise per minute in case users dial more than 300 unique numbers in a week.
New Vodafone Rs. 199 plan goes head up against the Reliance Jio Rs 149 plan. Reliance Jio plan, meanwhile, offers 2GB of 4G data, unlimited calls (Local + STD) to any network and unlimited SMSes (300 SMSes per day) for 28 days. Interestingly, if you have exceeded the 2GB data limit on Jio it doesn’t charge anything extra for the data you consume afterwards. However, the data speed comes down to 64Kbps.
Recently, Vodafone also announced a new plan for Rs 349 to let users enjoy 1.5GB if 4G data per day in addition to unlimited calls. It comes with a validity of 28 days, and is limited to its pre-paid customers.
