The much anticipated Vivo smartphone with on-screen fingerprint sensor has finally made its debut in China. The new Vivo smartphone is launched under the title Vivo X20 Plus UD. The handset has been announced in a single colour variant- Black with golden frame.
To recall, Vivo demoed the new in-display fingerprint reader at CES earlier this month. The Chinese handset maker didn’t reveal much at that time but it has now dispersed information about the specifications, pricing and availability of the new Vivo handset. From what we can observe, the Vivo X20 Plus UD shares similar aspects like the Vivo X20 Plus, except it now has on-screen fingerprint reader instead of rear-mounted fingerprint sensor found in the latter.
The phone features Synaptics Clear ID 9500 in-display fingerprint sensor. It has a tall 6.43-inch full HD+ 18:9 Super AMOLED display with 2160 x 1080 pixel resolution. The phone runs Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 mobile platform fabricated on a 14nm process and paired with Adreno 512 GPU for graphics. It packs 4GB of RAM and 128GB inbuilt memory with an expandable storage support of 256GB via microSD card.
The Vivo X20 Plus UD sports dual rear cameras combining a 12MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor with f/1.8 apertures, OIS and LED flash module. Up front, it carries a 12MP sensor with soft LED flash and f/2.0 aperture. The hybrid dual-SIM smartphone ships with Funtouch OS 3.2 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The Vivo X20 Plus UD is backed by a 3900mAh battery.
The connectivity options on the phone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/A-GPS and 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on board include accelerometer, ambient light and proximity sensors. Vivo has put a price tag of CNY 3598 (roughly Rs 36,100) and it will be made available on the home turf starting February 1. Information about its India launch is not yet known. We will let you know as soon as we do.
