Vivo V5s with 20MP ‘Moonlight Glow’ selfie camera, Hi-Fi audio launched

The Crown Gold Vivo V5s will be available from May 6, the Matte Black model will go on sale from May 20.

Vivo has launched its new selfie-focused smartphone, the Vivo V5s in India on Monday, April 27.  The smartphone priced at Rs. 18,990 will be available in two colours-Crown Gold and Matte Black. Pre-order for the smartphone starts today. The new Vivo V5s will go on sale from May 6. The Crown Gold variant will be available from May 6 while the Matte Black model will hit the shelves on May 20.

The Vivo V5s as lauded to be the smartphone for ‘Perfect Selfie’, feature a 20-megapixel ‘selfie-focused’ front camera that comes with Moonlight Flash to capture better images in low lighting condition. The front camera also has a dedicated group selfie mode and Beautify 6.0. Evidently, the Vivo V5s will be the third smartphone in the Vivo V5 selfie series after the Vivo V5 and the V5 Plus.

Apart from the selfie-focused front camera, the Vivo V5s comes with Smart Split 2.0 and Hi-Fi audio system with an AK4376 Hi-Fi audio chip as well. Vivo in collaboration with Saavn music streaming platform has offered 2 months free subscription with the new Vivo V5s.

Speaking about its specifications, the Vivo V5s features a 5.5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The smartphone is powered by a 1.5GHz Octa-Core MediaTek MT6750 processor with Mali T860 GPU. It comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory, which can be further expandable up to 256GB using microSD card slot. The smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Funtouch OS 2.6 skin layered on top. The Vivo V5s has a battery backup of 3000mAh. The fingerprint sensor on the smartphone is located in the front beneath the home button. Vivo says claims that the fingerprint sensor on the device can unlock the phone within 0.2 seconds and is completely water resistant.

The handset has a metal unibody design and features U type lines on the rear side. The volume rockers and the power button are located on the right side while the left side has the SIM/microSD slot. At the bottom, the device house the microUSB port, speaker grill and 3.5mm audio jack.

In terms of optics, the Vivo V5s sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF (phase detection autofocus), LED flash and a 20-megapixel front-facing camera LED flash for selfies and video calls. The primary camera offers a bunch of features like panorama, HDR, Night, PPT, pro, video, fast, slow, watermarks, filters, camera, sound, touch, hands raised, a front face mode, palm rest, countdown timer, specify face gender, etc.

In the connectivity suite, the Vivo V5s offer 4G LTE, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/GLONASS, microUSB port, USB OTG (on-the-go) support.  The handset measures 153.8 x 75.5 x 7.55mm and weighs 154 gram.
