The instant messaging app, Telegram has received a new update. The new version 4.7 brings a bunch of features for iOS and Android users. The update for Android now includes support for multiple accounts meanwhile, on iOS platform users will be able to add a new touch to the app with themes and different accent colours.
With the latest update, Android users can add up to three accounts with different phone numbers. You can quickly switch between accounts by using the side menu. Notifications from all the accounts will pop up on the screen (enabled by default) even if you are currently using one of those accounts. However, you can change this by tapping on the Notification settings menu.
The multiple accounts support is not available on iOS but Telegram has put a new Appearance setting. The iOS version of Telegram now comes with several themes that you can choose from including a “minimalistic Day” theme and two dark themes- “Night” and “Night Blue”. You can also tweak different accent colours under the Day theme and change the appearance of the app.
Both platforms have gained the new Quick Replies feature which you can access by simply swiping left on message in a chat to reply to that message. Telegram brought several interesting features in its last 4.6 version like auto-downloading media, better link previews, albums in Secret Chats, improved security, and embeds for messages from public groups and channels.
While Telegram was looked upon as a WhatsApp clone during its early days, it has truly raced ahead of its more illustrious rival in terms of features and usability in the past couple of years. Its web, desktop and mobile integration is seamless too. The latest 4.7 version is available for download on Google Play Store for Android users and App Store for iOS users.
