Alibaba-owned UCWeb announced an updated UC Browser 12.0 at an event in New Delhi, India. The company claims that their updated mobile browser consumes 50 percent less data while watching videos along with zero buffer time. Additionally, users can continue watching a video while it’s being downloaded in the background. It’s currently available on Google Play Store for Android.

In addition to this, UC Browser 12.0 allows users preview videos as well. All they need to do is long-press a video to generate a preview thumbnail. The company has also added a new multitasking feature, which allows users to watch videos while browsing simultaneously.

From our experience, the performance of UC Browser 12.0 appears smooth event with low RAM courtesy of the company’s decision to make their run on the upgraded core U4 Kernel. This essentially enables low RAM usage even with faster page loads.

“Our data compression technology now provides a ‘No buffering’ video watching experience. Our vision of “Content for everyone, Every Content for One” is making content accessible for users regardless of network infrastructure and mobile hardware type while also personalizing and customizing the content as per user’s preference,” Shallia Li, Head of UC Browser (International Business Department) at Alibaba Mobile Business Group said.
