Reliance Jio for the seventh time has been declared the fastest 4G network in India by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). TRAI with the help of their MySpeed app which measures and records the data speeds recorded an average download speed of 18 MBPS on the Reliance Jio network. Whereas, the lowest position for average 4G download speeds was given to Airtel which had an average download speed of 8.91 MBPS. However, we feel that the results don’t add up as Airtel was recently rewarded as the fastest 4G network in India by Ookla, a private broadband speed measuring firm, some other private firms also have different results.
This discrepancy in the results might be due to people using different apps and websites to measure their internet speeds. I personally use Ookla instead of the app from TRAI. As per the results, the download speed of Reliance Jio declined to the end of the month, initially, it was recorded at 19.12 MBPS after which it fell to 18.65 MBPS. It can also be seen from the results that Jio was almost 68 percent faster than Vodafone which was awarded the second position.
TRAI had recorded Vodafone’s average speed at 11.07 MBPS at end of the month. After which it was followed by Idea Cellular recording an average speed of 9.46 MBPS. Bharti Airtel came in last with an average speed of 8.91 MBPS. Speeds of other telecom operators weren’t published. While in the 3G spectrum Vodafone was number one with an average speed of 5.16 MBPS, followed by Airtel at 3.56 MBPS with Idea, Aircel, and BSNL tailing behind.
