Indian cell phone company Swipe Technologies is all set to announce four new affordable smartphones, Swipe Konnect Prime, Konnect Smart, Neo Power, and Swipe Neo Prime, over the course of next few weeks. All four upcoming Swipe smartphones will fall under the affordable price bracket and cost somewhere between Rs 3,000 and Rs 7,000. Shripal Gandhi, Chief Executive Officer, Swipe Technologies Pvt. Ltd., confirmed the news to Techook.
“We will be launching Swipe Neo Power and Swipe Konnect Prime in next two or three weeks from now. All upcoming Swipe phones including Konnect Smart and Swipe Neo Prime will be launched before the mid of September,” said Shripal. “We are launching all these phones before Diwali, and they will be priced somewhere between Rs 3,000 and Rs 7,000,” he added.
Interestingly, Swipe Konnect Prime is listed on the official company website. The 4G VoLTE-enabled smartphone offers a 5-inch screen, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, 8-megapixel rear shooter, 5-megapixel front shooter, and 2,500mAh battery.
Given that Chinese brands like Xioami have consistently been offering affordable smartphones to the masses, Swipe appears to be following the similar strategy. When asked about Swipe’s plans to get into the trending feature phone segment, Gandhi said Swipe is considering to announce great value-for-money feature phones as well. “We have a sense of demand, and a lot of brands and channels have reached out to us with regards to feature phones. We are seriously considering mulling over it to announce an extremely affordable and high-specced feature phone,” said Gandhi.
Meanwhile, Swipe today announced Elite VR, which is a VR-ready smartphone. It sports a 5.5-inch 720p display resulting in 267 ppi pixel density. Powering the device is a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM. It packs 8GB of expandable storage and 3,000mAh battery. It houses a 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel selfie camera. Swipe Elite VR is available exclusively on ShopClues for Rs 4,499.
