Swipe Technologies, the domestic smartphone maker has announced its latest budget offering, the Swipe Elite VR which comes for a price of Rs. 4,499. The smartphone bundled with a VR headset, the company claims it to be the most affordable VR-enabled handset.
The new Elite VR features a 5.5-inch HD IPS display with 720×1280 resolution. The phone is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737 64-bit processor paired with Mali-T720 GPU. It offers 1GB of RAM and 8GB inbuilt storage which is further expandable up to 32GB using microSD card. On the software front, the Swipe Elite VR runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow which is a bit disappointing given that a few other domestic OEMs have brought smartphones running Android 7.0 Nougat at a price little over Rs.5000.
In terms of imaging, the Elite VR features a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel camera up front. The device packs a 3000mAh battery and has a removable back cover. The dual SIM Elite VR offers 4G VoLTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS under its connectivity suite. It comes pre-loaded with SwiftKey keyboard.
The handset comes in four colour options- Black, White, Gold and Red and it will be available exclusively from ShopClues from August 8 i.e., today.
While Swipe unveiled the cheapest VR enabled smartphone, it has also introduced KONNECT Star 2017, a smartphone targeted to first-time buyers. The phone features a 4-inch display and is powered by a 1GHz (unspecified) quad-core processor. It comes with 1GB of RAM and 16GB storage. As for the optics, it offers a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera. The KONNECT Star 2017 comes with dual-SIM support and runs Indus OS based Android 6.0 Marshmallow which is said to support 12 regional languages. The 4G VoLTE enabled smartphone comes for a price of Rs. 3,333.
