Sony, the Japanese smartphone manufacturer had announced a number of new smartphones at the Mobile World Congress in February this year. The highlight of Sony’s MWC press event as its top-line flagship smartphone was the Sony Xperia XZ Premium packing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. Along with that, Sony also announced the smaller Xperia XZs, the Xperia XA1 and the Xperia XA1 Ultra.

Of the four phones announced, the smaller Sony Xperia XZs limited market release smartphone from Sony is marking its way to India. Sony has sent press invites for the launch of Sony Xperia XZs that is scheduled for April 4, 2017 starting 12:30pm (IST) onwards.

Although the smartphone is a companion to the flagship Sony Xperia XZ Premium, the Xperia XZs doesn’t features a 4K HDR display. The device instead sports a 5.2-inch full HD (1920×1080 resolution) screen. The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 system-on-chip(SoC) paired with 4GB RAM. The Sony Xperia comes in two storage variants- 4GB RAM+ 32GB Storage and 4GB RAM+64GB inbuilt memory. The 32GB storage model features single-SIM support, meanwhile, the 64GB storage version comes with dual-SIM support. The internal storage can be further expanded up to 256GB using microSD slot.

In terms of imaging, the Sony Xperia XZs carries the same Motion Eye technology like the new flagship Xperia XZ Premium. The handset get a 19-megapixel camera module on the back and a 13-megapixel sensor on the front for selfies. The most exciting feature of the Xperia XZs happens to be the fact that the camera can shoot Full HD video at 960 fps, taking slow-mo to a whole new level. The smartphone also comes with IP65/68 rating water and dust resistance.

The Sony Xperia XZs runs Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box and is powered by a 2900mAh non-removable battery. The single-SIM smartphone has Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, USB Type-C port and NFC in its connectivity options. Sensors on the board include- Proximity sensor, Accelerometer and Ambient Light sensor. The Sony Xperia XZs was announced in three colour variants- Ice Blue, Warm Silver and Black.
