Sony has launched its latest flagship Xperia XZ Premium in India today. While OnePlus has claimed its upcoming flagship of being the first smartphone in India to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, Sony trying to be the market first has brought the Snapdragon 835 equipped Xperia XZ Premium, making it the first device in India featuring the next generation Qualcomm chipset.

The phone is priced at Rs. 59,990 and will be available starting from June 12 at all Sony centers, select retail outlets, and Amazon.in. Pre-bookings will start from Friday, June 2 and end on June 11. For those who pre-book the new Xperia XZ Premium, Sony is offering a Sony SRS-XB20 Bluetooth speakers worth Rs. 8,990 for free. Along with this, the company is also giving 3 months free subscription to Sony LIV and Gameloft’s Mortal Combat 5 5,200 game credits free.

The premium flagship officially introduced at MWC 2017, is the first ever to come with a 4K HDR Triluminos display. This 5.5-inch 4K HDR display has been borrowed from Sony’s Bravia TV lineup. As mentioned above, at the heart of the Sony Xperia XZ Premium is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset.

The most interesting aspect of the Sony Xperia XZ Premium is the camera. Sony has embedded an innovative technology into the Xperia XZ Premium, called the Motion Eye camera system. This is powered by a new 19-megapixel stacked CMOS sensor offering 960 fps of slow motion recording thanks to a built-in DRAM layer. On the front, the Sony Xperia XZ Premium sports a 13-megapixel 1/3.06-inch Exmor RS sensor along with a 22m wide-angle f/2.0 lens.

The phone runs Android 7.1 Nougat and comes with Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front. It also comes with IP65/68 rating water and dust resistance. Sony has brought the dual-SIM variant of the Xperia XZ Premium in India. It has a battery backup of 3230mAh and supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology. Connectivity options on the phone include- 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS, USB Type C and 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on board include- accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, ambient light sensor and proximity sensor.
