Sony is speculated to reveal an upgrade of the Sony Xperia X smartphone at the Mobile World Congress this month. However, ahead of its unveil, the Xperia X receives a price cut in India. The company is offering a discount of Rs. 14,000 on the smartphone which is now available at Rs. 24,990. Th discount is listed exclusively on Flipkart. The offer, however, will be available till the stock lasts.
The Xperia X was initially announced at MWC 2016 and was released for a price of Rs. 48,990 in May last year. Sony cut the price of the smartphone by Rs. 10,000 which brought down the price to Rs. 38,990 from its initial price in September 2016.
To refresh, the Sony Xperia X features a 5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Triluminos display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor paired with 3GB RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage (expandable storage up to 200GB via microSD card). On the imaging front, the device sports a 23-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture. It house a 13-megapixel sensor on the front.
This is a dual-SIM smartphone that supports 4G LTE connectivity. The Xperia X comes with a 2,620mAh battery. The device is 7.9mm slim and weighs 153 grams. The Xperia X came packed with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box, but the smartphone recently started receiving the Android 7.0 Nougat update. The phone is available in Graphite Black, Rose Gold, Lime Gold and White colour options on Flipkart.
Although Sony has brought a massive price cut on the Xperia X but the smartphone still expensive if we compare it with the Chinese smartphones, for instance, the Lenovo Z2 Plus, Redmi Note 4 or the Honor 6X. all these smartphones which come under ‘affordable’ price bracket pack a better processor, long battery life which is hard to find in the Sony mid-tier smartphones.
Sony will be holding its MWC 2017 event from February 27 to March 2. The Japanese tech company is expected to unveil five new smartphones at the annual mobile trade show that will take place in Barcelona, Spain.
