The Japanese tech giant is expected to unveil a slew of smartphones at the IFA event this year. Sony has already sent out invites for a press event that will take place just a before IFA 2017 kicks off i.e., August 31. According to reports, the company might bring two flagship offerings dubbed as Sony Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact while there could be another smartphone, Xperia X1 which is said to be fall under mid-range category.
Apparently, the popular mobile tipster Roland Quandt just last week tweeted a few press renders of the Sony Xperia XZ1 highlighting the possible colour schemes that the handset might offer. The device was seen in Black and Pink version with Sony’s traditional loop design and dual front speaker setup. At the back, one could see the rear camera with LED flash and NFC branding alongside. Previously, the tipster had also leaked the supposed prices of the Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact.
The supposedly high-end smartphone, Xperia XZ1 is expected to feature 5.2-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4GB of RAM. Meanwhile the XZ1 Compact is tipped to carry similar hardware internals but with a smaller screen size of 4.6-inch. The budget offering, Xperia XZ1 is tipped to sport a 5-inch full HD display, Qualcomm latest mobile platform Snapdragon 660 and 4GB of RAM.
In addition, Sony is also likely to introduce a nearly bezel-less smartphone at the IFA event. The phone is expected to feature 6-inch LCD display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The handset is said to utilise a Full Active QHD display that might occupy the whole space up front. Android Authority points out that Sony might likely turn have a bezel-less smartphone up its sleeves given the fact that display manufacturer JDI (a joint venture consisting of Sony, Toshiba, and Hitachi) has already started mass-producing a “Full Active” QHD display with thin bezels.
