Samsung is all set to launch its flagship Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in India on April 19. The South Korean tech giant has started sending press invites for the launch event. The event is scheduled to take place in New Delhi at 12pm IST.
The high-end premium flagship Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ were officially introduced in New York last month. Both the smartphones offer a few marquee features, for instance, the ‘Infinity display’ that has an unusual aspect ratio of 18:5:9. The home button is replaced and is now located underneath the display.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 features a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display while the Galaxy S8+ sports a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED screen. Both the devices have a screen resolution of 2960×1440 pixels.
Samsung had launched the Galaxy S8 series with two system-on-chip options- Snapdragon 835 and Samsung’s own Exynos 8895. Both the chipsets are fabricated on 10nm FinFET technology. Samsung, however, may not bring the Galaxy S8, Snapdragon 835 SoC model in India. Both the smartphones will come with 4GB of RAM paired with 64GB inbuilt storage which can be further expanded via microSD card (up to 256GB). The devices run TouchWiz based Android 7.0 Nougat.
As for the optics, both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones feature a 12-megapixel ‘Dual Pixel’ rear camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and a f/1.7 aperture. On the front, the devices get an 8-megapixel sensor with autofocus and f/1.7 aperture. The fingerprint sensor is located on the back panel. The smartphones also carry Samsung’s new in-house AI assistant ‘Bixby’.
The Galaxy S8 pack a 3000mAh battery, while the Plus variant Galaxy S8+ house a 3500mAh battery. Both the smartphones support wireless and fast charging and come with IP68 water and dust resistance as well.
