After Samsung announced a delay in the release of the Galaxy S8 , rumors have surfaced with more predictions for the upcoming flagship smartphone have surfaced. As per the latest report from The Guardian, Samsung’s Galaxy S8 will come in two sizes.
The report claims that the phones will have screens between 5-inch and 6-inch. Both versions will have edge-to-edge “infinity display” and an almost bezel-less design. The “infinity display” is said to cover the majority of the front side of the device, suggesting a high screen-to-body ratio. Two sources told The Guardian that “there wasn’t even room to put a logo or brand name on the front of the device.” The two smartphones codenamed Dream and Dream 2 will have curved edge screen similar to the Galaxy S7 Edge smartphone.
Citing unnamed sources, the report also suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be announced in late March and will be up for sale on or around April 21. In congruence with previous leaks and renders, the report claims that the phone will come with the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack and even an iris scanner which was introduced in the very controversial Galaxy Note 7. The Samsung flagship will supposedly move the fingerprint scanner from the front to the rear panel of the phone.
Instead of dual-rear cameras (as rumors suggested earlier), the phone will feature dual pixel camera that was seen on Galaxy S7 series. The camera will sport built-in object recognition similar to Google Goggles, according to the report. It will be able to make visual searches thanks to the artificial intelligent assistant ‘Bixby’.
The new device is speculated to come with 64GB in-built storage along with microSD support (expandable up to 256GB). The phone will have USB type-C port and bring a new version of Samsung’s Gear VR headset and Gear 360 camera. Samsung is also expected to release new “Dex” (desktop extension), that would turn the Galaxy S8 into an Android desktop, computer, connecting to a monitor, keyboard and other peripherals.
Earlier leak reports claim that the new Galaxy S8 will be announced on March 29. The phone will feature the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 system on chip (SoC). The phone might likely carry a price similar to Google’s flagship Pixel or Apple’s iPhone 7 series.
