It was just yesterday that the professional tipster Evan Blass shared a press render of the highly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S8. And now a new batch of images have surfaced again revealing the design of the upcoming flagship. The purported images that come from BGR corroborate the render that was posted by Blass on Wednesday. BGR, however shared the top and bottom side of the device giving us a glimpse of what the new smartphone will look like.
The alleged picture exhibits the physical design of the supposed Galaxy S8 device with minimal bezels on the front and curved corners. If we take a closer look, we can spot the iris scanner on the front with power and volume buttons placed on the left side, while an extra button pitched on the right side which we assume to be the dedicated button that would activate Samsung’s new virtual assistant ‘Bixby’. The purported image also outline the bottom side of the device that reveals a 3.5mm audio jack with the speaker grill and USB-C port alongside. The report claims the smartphone will house a 12-megapixel primary camera that sits on the rear panel of the alleged Galaxy S8 with flash and ‘sensor array’. An 8-megapixel front-facing camera is said be present just above the screen. As purported image shows the physical home button has been removed from the front and the report states that the fingerprint sensor is now relocated on the back side of the device. The BGR report also suggest that both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will be somewhat identical in terms of design except for the Plus variant will have a bigger battery than the base model.
Previous leaks indicated that the Galaxy S8 will feature a 5.8-inch display meanwhile the Galaxy S8+ will come with a big 6.2-inch +QHD display. The smartphones will be powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip (SoC) paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage (expandable up to 2TB). The new Galaxy S8 series are said to come with IP68 water and dust resistance.
The South Korean electronics giant is set to announce the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ at a press event in New York on March 29. The new Galaxy S8 series is expected to hit the shelves globally on April 21.
