With just a few days left for the 2017 Mobile World Congress (MWC), a fresh leak about the Samsung Galaxy S8 has emerged. The latest leak, as first reported by Android Police, claims to have gained information from a system dump a Galaxy Tab S3, which itself is an unannounced device, rumoured to be set for unveiling at MWC.
The major ‘images’ found on the Galaxy Tab S3 system dump are actually clipart mockups, which show some features of the upcoming Galaxy S8 flagship smartphone. While we are not sure why the Galaxy Tab S3 system dump would contain any sort of information about the Galaxy S8 smartphone, it is possible that Samsung is creating some sort of synced ecosystem between the devices.
In these clipart images, it is shown that the new Galaxy S8 might come with on-screen navigation keys, thereby reducing bezel thickness even further. This also means, and is supported by another clipart mockup, that the fingerprint scanner, with possibly a heart-rate sensor, has been moved to the back panel of the Galaxy S8.
In the clipart and in one of the leaked images, we can see that the tip is highlighting the multitasking key on the left, a back key to the right, and a square-ish home button in the middle, an order that Samsung has been consistently following. The live image also shows off some very thin bezels.
More surprisingly, a clipart also shows a mockup of the DeX dock, that reportedly creates a desktop-like environment with the Galaxy S8, and possibly the Galaxy Tab S3 as well, considering the images were found in the latter’s system dump. The Android Police story confirms from a source that the DeX dock flips open to dock the phone in, with an HDMI connector.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is most likely not going to be announced at MWC 2017, but the Korean manufacturer will allegedly make a date announcement and show a short teaser trailer at the event as well.
