With Samsung recently confirming the launch delay of its upcoming Galaxy S8, the rumor mill has poured in more information on the details of the new device. The leaks which come from the popular tipster Evan Blass shared some of the key specs including the design of the new phone via Venture Beat.

As per the report, Samsung Galaxy S8 will be unveiled on March 29th and it will come in two models- a 5.8-inch and the other with a 6.2-inch display.

The render (shared by Evan Blass) which gives a peek on the smartphone’s design, reveals the power button on the right edge of the device. The two models as shown on the image will have USB type-C port and thankfully the traditional 3.5 mm headphone will be inserted as well. Furthermore, the fingerprint scanner will be embedded on the rear side next to the camera sensor. Unlike other Samsung smartphones, the Galaxy won’t have physical home button and touch-sensitive navigations, rather it will have a large curved display.

The report mostly aligns with the recent report published by The Guardian that unveiled a few major details of the Galaxy S8. Both the models, as The Guardian cited will sport Samsung’s “edge” display with curves down on both sides of the phone. The 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch variants will have QHD super AMOLED displays and will cover 83 percent screen-to-body ratio. Unlike the ‘industry-standard’ 16:9, the models will have an unusual 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

In terms of the processor, Blass said that the new phone will be running on two different system-on-chip (SoC). The device will carry the latest Snapdragon 835 (in some region), and Samsung’s own Exynos chipset in others. The processors will be fabricated with the 10nm FinFET technology.

The new Galaxy S8 is expected to offer 11 percent faster performance compared to the Galaxy S7, along with 23 percent faster graphics processing and 20 percent more energy efficiency.

Although previous reports cited that the phone will be coming with 6GB RAM, Blass claimed that the phone will feature 4GB of Ram with 64GB internal memory alongside. The phone will have microSD support (expandable up to 256GB) as being reported in The Guardian earlier.

The Galaxy S8 with 5.8-inch variant will supposedly pack a 3000mAh battery while the 6.2-inch version will be backed by a 3500mAh battery. In terms of imaging, Samsung Galaxy S8’s rear camera will sport a 12-megapixel sensor and the front will come with an 8-megapixel camera. Both the lenses will feature f/1.7 aperture and come with visual search functionality such as the OCR enabled web searches on photographed text.

As the reports noted earlier, the Galaxy S8 will be infused with the Iris scanner which was introduced in the fiasco Galaxy Note 7 model.

According to Blass, the flagship smartphone will offer some added feature (as cited in The Guardian report). The new “Dex” (desktop extension) will enable the device to turn into Android desktop that can be controlled with a keyboard and mouse. The phone will also be integrated with Samsung’s new intelligent AI called Bixby which is said to handle complex commands.

Blass lastly noted that the Galaxy S8 will carry pressure sensitive technology (force touch) on the lower part of the display which will be capable in distinguishing different pressure put on the display.

The Galaxy S8 will be priced 100 Euro higher than the price tagged on the Galaxy S7 series. The 5.8-inch version is said to come at Euro 799 (approximately Rs 58,000) while the 6.2-inch version is expected to have a price tag of 899 Euro (around Rs 65,000).
