Vodafone Australia on Tuesday put up a list of smartphones in its software update weekly roundup which will be soon getting software updates. The company in the list mentioned that they have submitted the Android 7.1 Nougat update along with the stability and bug fixes for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the S8+. This list that has been put up on Vodafone’s website is specific to the Australian variants of the smartphones. However, it is expected that the update will soon roll out to other regions also. For now, we don’t know when will the devices be getting the update. Even in the list, it was only mentioned that the update had been submitted, no clear date as to when we could expect the update to roll-out was provided.
We reached out to Samsung executive regarding this and they said that they will not be able to comment. However, they did say that their flagship smartphones come with a guarantee to get updated to the latest software. Vodafone could not be reached immediately for comment. There also have been reports that Samsung might be testing Android 7.1 on their devices as a few Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones have been spotted with Android 7.1 Nougat.
The list also contained Google Nexus 6P, Moto X Style, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy Tab S2 VE 9.7, Xperia XA, Xperia XZ Premium, and the Xperia Z5. All of these devices are scheduled to get updates. However, not every device will be updated to Android 7.1 Nougat.
