Samsung’s premium flagship, the Galaxy Note 8 will make its way to India on September 12, the same day when Apple will take the wraps off its tenth anniversary iPhone. The company has started sending sent out press invites for the Galaxy Note 8 launch event that is scheduled to take place in New Delhi at 12:30 pm (IST).
The pre-registrations for the Galaxy Note 8 are already open on the official Samsung India website. To recap, the South Korean company globally introduced its flagship smartphone last month in New York. The Galaxy Note 8 features a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity display with a 1440 x 2960 resolution. At the heart, it has Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 835 processor or Samsung’s in-house Exynos 8895 (depending on regions) SoC paired with 6GB of RAM. Internal storage is at 64GB/128GB and 256GB which can be further expanded via microSD card (up to 256GB). The device also carries the Note brand signature S stylus pen.
The key attribute of the Galaxy Note 8 is its dual-camera setup. The new Note flagship is the first from Samsung’s smartphone inventory to debut dual rear camera arrangement. The handset utilises two 12MP cameras, one of which shoots wide angle shots at f/1.7 aperture while the second is a 2x telephoto lens that comes with an f/2.4. The Note 8 also offers dual optical Image Stabilization (OIS). At front, there’s an 8MP camera that comes with smart autofocus and is capable of recording 4K videos. On the software front, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 runs Android 7.1 Nougat and it is said to be upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo later this year. All of these is backed by a 3300mAh battery.
As for the pricing, the Galaxy Note 8 carries a price tag of $930 (roughly Rs. 59,566) in the US for the base model. In India, the handset is expected to cost around Rs. 65,000. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 launch event will be live streamed at news.samsung.com/in/.
