Samsung today launched its latest flagship, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 at a launch event held in New Delhi. The company has announced the new handset for a price of Rs. 67,900. To recap, the phone was officially introduced in New York last month. The Galaxy Note 8 is the first smartphone from Samsung to offer dual rear cameras.
The Galaxy Note 8 features a 6.3-inch QHD+ (1440×2960 pixels) Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 521ppi. It is powered by Samsung’s in-house Exynos 8895 SoC (system-on-chip) paired with 6GB of RAM. Internal storage is at 64GB which can be further expanded via microSD card. The phone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box.
As for the optics, the Note 8’s dual rear camera setup comes with a 12-megapixel wide angle lens with dual pixel AF and f/1.7 aperture, and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with autofocus and a f/2.4 aperture. The rear cameras also come with dual optical image stabilisation. The camera offers a Live Focus mode that lets you to adjust the bokeh effect. At the front, it has an 8MP camera with smartfocus. The front camera is capable of recording 4K videos natively. The phone has a battery backup of 3000mAh. The dual-SIM Note 8 supports wireless charging.
Design-wise, the Note 8 looks similar to the premium Galaxy S8 series with bezels removed on both sides with fingerprint sensor placed in the same position as the Galaxy S8. The device retains the 3.5mm headphone jack and comes with USB Type-C port for charging. On the front, it features Samsung’s Infinity display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone also carries the Note series traditional S stylus pen.
Interestingly, the South Korean tech company has said that it will roll out Bixby voice assistant capabilities to the Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8 and the S8+ in the next few weeks.
The Note 8 comes with IP68-rating for water and dust resistance. Connectivity options on the phone include 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, and NFC. Sensors on board the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, digital compass, gyroscope, heart rate sensor, iris sensor, and proximity sensor. The phone offers three biometric unlocking features – fingerprint scanner, facial recognition, and an iris scanner. The smartphone comes in two colour schemes- Maple Gold and Midnight Black.

As mentioned, the Galaxy Note 8 is priced at Rs 67,900. The new Note 8 will be available for pre-order starting today and it will be up for sale from September 21st via Amazon.in, Samsung Shop online as well as Samsung Stores offline.
Samsung has offered a cashback of up to Rs. 4,000 on purchase of the new Galaxy Note 8 made through HDFC Bank credit card. As part of the introductory offer, Galaxy Note 8 users will also get one-time screen replacement and a convertible wireless charger for free. The company is also offering a ‘Double data offer’ on Jio network, whereby Galaxy Note 8 users can get up to 448 GB additional 4G data over 8 months and a complimentary Jio Prime membership as well.
