Samsung Electronics on Tuesday announced the latest additions to its affordable Galaxy J lineup- the Galaxy J5 (2017), and the Galaxy J7 (2017). The South Korean tech company unveiled these smartphones in Europe at a price of EUR 279 (around Rs. 19,600) and EUR 339 (around Rs. 24,600) respectively.
Alongside the Galaxy J7 (2017) and J5 (2017), the Galaxy J3 (2017) is also announced in Europe. Notably, the Galaxy J3 (2017) was launched last month in the US for AT&T but with a different design.
Talking about the specifications of these new devices, the ‘top-of-the-line model’ Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) features a metal body. It sports a 5.5-inch full HD (1080×1920 resolution) display and runs Android 7.0 Nougat. It is powered by a 1.6GHz Exynos 7870 octa-core processor paired with Mali T830 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The phone offers 16GB internal storage which can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card. As for the camera, the Galaxy J7 (2017) features a 13-megapixel camera with f/1.7 aperture, LED flash. On the front, it has a 13-megapixel sensor with f/1.9 aperture and LED flash. The dual-SIM smartphone supports 4G VoLTE. The fingerprint sensor is embedded on the front and the phone comes with IP54 rated splash resistance. It carries a 3600mAh battery. Connectivity options on the smartphone include- Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS.
The Galaxy J5 (2017) meanwhile features a 5.2-inch HD (1280×720 resolution) Super AMOLED display. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat and packs 2GB of RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage. The smartphone house a 3000mAh battery. Other specifications on the new Galaxy J5 (2017) remains the same.
The entry-level smartphone from the Galaxy J series, Galaxy J3 (2017) sports a 5-inch HD (1280×720 resolution) TFT display. It also boasts a metal unibody design. The phone is powered by a 1.4GHz processor paired with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. As for the optics, it has a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front facing camera. The Galaxy J3 (2017) runs Android 7.0 Nougat and packs 2400mAh battery.
Samsung will release the Galaxy J5 (2017) in Europe later this month, while the Galaxy J7 (2017) will arrive at some point in July. The Galaxy J3 (2017) which is priced at EUR 219 (roughly Rs. 15,800) will be made available in Europe in August. Samsung has said that the pricing of the new Galaxy J series will vary by country.
