Samsung had announced its latest budget smartphone from the ‘J’ series, Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017). The South Korean tech company launched the smartphone with AT&T in the US at $179.99 (around Rs. 11,500).
Speaking about the specifications of the new Galaxy J3(2017), the smartphone has a 5-inch HD (720×1280 resolution) display. It is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos 7 Quad (7570) chipset paired with Mali-T720 GPU. The device comes with 1.5GB RAM and 16GB internal storage which is further expandable up to 128GB using microSD card slot.
The Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) runs Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box. In terms of imaging, the phone sports a 5-megapixel rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and LED flash. At front, it gets a 2-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture. The front camera comes with a ‘Beauty Effect’ in Selfie mode.
The smartphone packs a 2600mAh battery which is said to deliver talk time of up to 23 hours and 17 days of standby time. Connectivity options on the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) include- 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/A-GPS. Sensors on the board include- accelerometer, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor. The phone weighs 147 gram and measures 140x9x70.1×8.7 mm.
The Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) comes in a single colour option- Silver. Interestingly, Samsung introduced the smartphone as Galaxy S3 Emerge for Sprint early this year. But unlike the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) that runs Android 7.0 Nougat, the Sprint version runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The mid-range smartphone will be available online as well as through AT&T stores across the US.
